LEE Hughes scored on his second Harriers debut as the Reds saw off Stourbridge to book their place in the final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

The 38-year-old bagged his first goal for Kidderminster since May 3 1997 when he pounced in the 18th minute.

Danny Wright doubled Harriers' advantage early in the second half in what was a useful workout for Gary Whild's side.

They will now meet the winners of Worcester City and Redditch United, who hold their tie next Tuesday, in the final.

Gary Whild picked the strongest side possible and handed debuts to on-loan Burton forward Dominic Knowles as well as Hughes.

The Glassboys also took the game seriously and picked a their best side available.

Hughes had a left-footed effort deflected wide in the eighth minute.

But Stourbridge centre back Leon Miles nearly opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a fine header from a Drew Canavan free-kick but Danny Lewis tipped it over.

But Hughes demonstrated his poaching prowess when he evaded his marker and headed home from a Aman Verma cross.

The away side then had to withstand sustained pressure from the hosts, who won a host of free-kicks in dangerous areas.

Lewis had to be alert and was kept on his toes by on target efforts from Canavan and Luke Benbow.

Benbow, who was a handful throughout, also steered a firm effort some way off target.  Harriers did lose Aaron Wildig come off after losing a tooth mid way through the first half. His replacement, Callum Gittings, had to be replaced in the 55th after suffering from a deadleg.

Stourbridge had been hoping to build on their impressive first half but an error saw them fall 2-0 down two minutes into the second period.  Keeper Dean Coleman meekly punched a Kevin Nicholson corner into the path of Wright who slotted home.

Luke Connolly and Miles both had effort but Lewis was equal to them.

While the hosts piled on the pressure, Harriers stood firm to seal a place in the final for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
