JARED Hodgkiss believes Harriers need nine wins to secure a place in the Vanarama Conference play-off spots.

Kidderminster kick-off the all-important 14 game run-in at home to fellow promotion rivals Woking tomorrow (3pm ko).

While it has been a season of upheaval behind the scenes, manager Gary Whild and the squad have managed to keep themselves in the play-off reckoning.

Harriers are eighth in the table, five points off the play-off spots and level with the Cards.

Lee Hughes is set for his first competitive game in a Harriers shirt at home since he left the club at the end of the 1996-97 season.

And Hodgkiss believes the 38-year-old's addition has given the club a big lift.

"There is definitely a positive vibe around the squad," said the defender.

"We may have lost Marvin Johnson but bringing in Lee Hughes has given us a huge boost, I don't know how the gaffer and Mark Creighton did it but it's a great bit of business.

"I cannot say the Woking game isn't big because it us. If we lost it would throw a spanner in the works although it wouldn't put us out of the running for the play-offs.

"We've just got to chalk off the wins and I think nine wins out of 14 games would be enough."

Hughes scored in Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Stourbridge in the Worcestershire Senior Cup Final on Tuesday, while fellow new addition Danny Wright bagged a second.

It was their first competitive match since January 24 after postponements.

Hodgkiss added: "We've had some behind the scenes 11 versus 11 games and played the youth team but it's not the same as a competitive match, so it was great to play Stourbridge who give us a really good workout."

Aaron Wildig (lost tooth) and Callum Gittings (dead leg) will have injuries assessed but Josh Gowling successfully came through 90 minutes against the Glassboys after six months sidelined.

Woking, who are winless in their last eight away games, are without the suspended Joe Mcnerney.
