MANAGER Gary Whild says his squad are playing for deals away from Aggborough as Harriers prepare for tomorrow night’s game against high-flying Eastleigh.

With the club set to hand Whild a much smaller budget for next season and the majority of the squad out of contract this summer, there looks set to be an exodus.

However, with nine games of the season left, Harriers are looking to end a six-game winless streak in the Vanarama Conference after Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Alfreton.

But they face a tough task at home to Eastleigh, who got the better of title-chasing Bristol Rovers 2-1 at the weekend.

“There is a little bit of uncertainty with the budget for next season and that is not a good situation for the players,” commented Whild.

“We’ve got nine games left and I’ve said to the players they have to knuckle down.

“Whatever happens at this football club, they are playing to impress maybe other suitors who are looking to sign them and can afford to bring them in.”

Harriers also have not scored a goal in over six and a half hours as they struggle to find some cutting edge.

Whild added: “At the moment, we need to get a goal to cheer up everybody and hopefully get a win as well.

“I look back to the ten games we had at the start of the season we finished runners-up, it’s a fine line and we’re coming down the wrong side.

“All we can do is keep working hard. I don’t doubt the lads for their attitude and honesty but at the moment it’s not going for us.

“I’ve never known the amount of chances we’ve missed.”
