CHAIRMAN Rod Brown says Kidderminster Harriers must draw a line under a very testing year and forge a brighter future for the club.

Brown has prioritised restoring the faith of supporters at the heart of his plans to take the Aggborough outfit forward.

He is putting in place a framework to improve Harriers’ commercial ability in order to make the club run effectively as a business and never repeat the financial problems of last season.

“I have only been involved a short space of time but there’s no doubt that a big part of the club’s DNA is the community and we want to re-engage with fans,” said the chairman.

“The club had difficulties because of commercial decisions it had made previously, but we want to draw a line under them and move forward.

“The major shareholders entrusted the club’s running to me and the new board of directors, and I will work extremely hard to get it right.”

In an exciting development, former Reds player and high profile and well-respected football agent Colin Gordon has joined the board as football development director.

The ex-Birmingham City player, who represents former England manager Steve McClaren, Arsenal ace Theo Walcott and Manchester United’s rising star Phil Jones, among other big names, will work with manager Gary Whild and focus on developing young players.

Brown sees Gordon’s addition as a major coup for the club, adding not just his vast experience in the world of player management but also raising the club’s profile, which will offer added commercial value.

Lifelong Kidderminster fan and season ticket holder Mike Morris, who was on the board 20 years ago, has also agreed to become a director with responsibility for the ground and maintenance.

"I am also very pleased Mike has agreed to join us, his experience in this area will prove invaluable,” added the chairman.

The current board of directors are to take on specific roles in the club as well as their financial commitment for the season.

One of the key development areas for the season ahead is the restructuring of the commercial activity with the addition of a full-time sales person, who will be announced shortly.

Kidderminster are also spending £40,000 on the Aggborough pitch, with the well-known and respected Pershore-based Phil Day Sports Ltd starting work on Monday, May 18.

The chairman also wants to enhance the matchday experience within the Aggborough Suite and intends to offer all season ticket holders a chance to enjoy a match day dining experience.

Manager Gary Whild is committed for the 2015-16 season and has been tasked with building a competitive squad on a smaller budget.

“Gary Whild’s track record finding talent from lower down non-league is excellent,” said the chairman. “The budget will be less than half what it is now but we intend to use the progressive youth academy which we will further develop with Colin Gordon’s appointment to become a successful blueprint for the league. It’s going to be tough, but if we can sustain National League football and remain within our financial commitments that will be a successful season.”
