GARY Whild has said that Kidderminster Harriers' senior players are putting in the hard yards in preparation for the 2015-16 season in the Vanarama National League.

So far, the Reds have fielded academy prospects such as Luke Maxwell and trialists in wins over Romulus and Bedworth.

The club are sending another youthful squad to Stourport Swifts on Saturday (3pm ko) with the first look at the likes of Joe Clarke, Kelvin Langmead and Lathaniel Rowe-Turner more likely to be the home game against Birmingham at Aggborough on July 18.

He said: "The lads had a stiff procedure to follow in the close season and came back fit and flying.

"They have trained particularly hard and some of the younger lads have had two games against two difficult sets of opposition.

"There is a little apology because the fans haven't seen some of the more well-known players but I can assure everyone there is a method to it.

"They are working a bit harder than the younger lads and it's important that we get the timing right.

"If the fans could be patient they will see a benefit to that."

Whild is also hoping to have another chance to watch former Le Havre hitman Amadou Alassane.

The 32-year-old scored against Romulus on Saturday but returned to France but is set to return.

Whild added: "You look at his stats and he's a slightly different kettle of fish.

"The guy's in his 30s and has had a career at Le Havre and was a top player. He's had a slight problem, a cardiac situation which rules him out of French football.

"He was out of the game for two or three years but thought he'd like another crack at playing.

"He did really well at Romulus and we may well look at him again.

"He comes from France, he's over here with friends, at the minute we don't really know what the situation is."
