HARRIERS were frustrated by fellow basement boys Halifax as both sides battled out a bottom of the table draw.

Kidderminster looked on course for a first win of the season in the Vanarama National League when Gurjit Singh fired the away side ahead.

Harriers had the best of the first half but Halifax came on strong after the break and CJ Hamilton levelled it up in the 67th minute.

After a momentous few days, which saw Gary Whild moved from the manager's role and named head of football operations and Tim Flowers promoted to head coach, Kidderminster were desperate to cheer up their long suffering fans with three points.

There was some good news as centre back Kelvin Langmead made his first start since limping off with a heel injury on the weekend of the season to bolster Kiddy's defence.

With Luke Maxwell suspended for three matches, Calvin Dinsley made his first league start for Harriers.

On-loan West Bromwich winger Tahvon Campbell was also drafted in after winger Adam Dawson had joined Tranmere on-loan.

Both teams were in dire need of three points but it was the Wyre Forest team who started the brighter and deservedly took the lead in the 11th minute.

Singh continued to be a bright spark in a tough start to the campaign and he swapped passes with Reece Styche belle racing into the box to head home his team-mate's accurate right wing cross.

Kidderminster kept applying the pressure with several corners and Aman Verma saw an effort ruled out for offside after prodding home Langmead's header.

Langmead also produced a well-timed challenge to win the ball off CJ Hamilton as he sped into the box. Despite the hosts calling for a penalty, the referee blew for a goal-kick.

Slowly but surely Halifax worked their way into the game but looked very low on confidence.

A raking cross from Kevin Roberts was not swept home by the Halifax defender's team mates.

Keeper Alex Palmer was called into action on the half hour mark by Danny Hattersley's flicked header.

Harriers looked untroubled but the home side had their moments, with Hamza Bencherif heading over the bar and David Brooks firing over the bar from the edge of the box on the stroke of half-time.

Halifax boss Neil Aspin made two changes at the start of the second half, with Jake Hibbs and Josh MacDonald replacing Bencherif and Hattersely respectively.

Singh created a good chance in the 54th minute when he drove to the byline and drilled the ball across the box but none of his teammates could apply the finishing touch.

But the hosts attacked on the break and Palmer had to shoot out a left arm to divert MacDonald's shot behind.

But Halifax kept piling on the pressure and Harriers were lucky to avoid a penalty in the 60th minute when Dinsley pushed MacDonald in the box but the referee waved play on.

The home side made it 1-1 in the 67th minute when Hamilton broke into the box and slotted home from 15 yards.

Aman Verma nearly replied instantly when his 25-yard shot was spilled by keeper Matt Glennon but the shot-stopper recovered to avoid an embarrassing goal.

Kidderminster poured forward and Singh pounced on a loose pass but steered an effort from the edge of the box off target.

A tiring Singh was replaced by Jordan Jones, who was making his league debut for the Reds.

Hamilton went close with the winner in the 85th minute but fired his effort over the bar.

Jordan Burrow could have bagged a second for Halifax but fired wide with just Palmer to beat after good work by Hamilton But Harriers hit back and Joe Clarke saw his goal bound effort bravely blocked by James Bolton in the 87th minute.

Langmead then had a header from a Clarke corner cleared off the line.

Clarke then teed up Andrew Fox, playing his last game before his loan from Peterborough ends, but the defender fired wide at the death.

But in the end neither side could find the goal that could secure three precious points.
