NEW Harriers head coach Dave Hockaday watched his side produce a Jekyll and Hyde display as they suffered defeat at Moss Rose.

Kidderminster paid the price for an out of sorts first half display as Tony Diagne and Danny Rowe punished poor defending at corners to hand Macclesfield a deserved lead.

But with the cameras from BT Sport watching, the Reds improved and Jordan Murphy scored on his debut to give the game a more respectable score line.

But Hockaday faces a difficult tasks as Harriers winless start to the Vanarama National League stretched to 16 games, a run which leaves them bottom of the table.

Harriers made three changes from the team which drew 1-1 at home to Boreham Wood.

New addition Murphy, who has joined from Walsall in a youth loan, was handed his debut.

Dean Snedker returned in goal for the first time since August as Alex Palmer dropped to the bench.

With Jordan Tunnicliffe back from suspension, meaning Lathaniel Rowe-Turner also dropped down to the substitutes.

Under the gaze of Hockaday, Kiddy made a tentative start as an attractive Macclesfield side dominated the first half.

Snedker was called into action in the tenth minute when he denied Jack Sampson.

Harriers keeper produced a slew of athletic saves but Harriers' inability to defend set-pieces proved to be their undoing.

Jordan Jones produced a brave block in the 15th minute to deny Danny Whitehead's powerful effort from edge of the area.

The Harriers midfielder never recovered from the setback and was replaced by Aman Verma 12 minutes later.

But Macclesfield got the goal they deserved in the 31st minute.

Snedker had produced a brilliant athletic save to deny Whitehead but Harriers fell asleep from a Paul Turnbull corner.

George Pilkington's header hit Kevin Toner on the line but the away defence failed to react as Diagne slammed home the opening goal.

Snedker came to Harriers' rescue moments later when he sped out of his area to deny Whitehead.

But Macclesfield were not to be denied and made it 2-0 in the 38th minute in alarmingly similar circumstances.

The keeper had denied Danny Whitehead impressively but Kidderminster were guilty of making the same errors as Pilkington's header was blocked and Rowe fired home.

Harriers showed more determination in the second half and Murphy nearly pulled a goal back in the 53rd minute.

The striker sneaked into the home defence but his effort was blocked by the legs of keeper Shwan Jalal.

Snedker had been keeping the score down and he was called into action again in the 57th minute when he dived to grab Whitehead's dipping effort.

Hockaday took off Toner, who was playing at left-back and brought on Rowe-Turner in the 63rd minute in a like-for-like substitution.

Reece Styche fired an effort wide but the away side lacked cutting edge and new addition Hassan replaced Maxwell in the 72nd minute.

Almost out of nothing Harriers pulled a goal back in the 76th minute.

A fine move involving Styche, Murphy and Jared Hodgkiss forced a corner.

Joe Clarke, who was much improved in the second half, produced an accurate delivery.

Kelvin Langmead won the ball in the air and Murphy tucked the shot away at the far post.

The goal breathed life into the away team but they struggled to really test Silkmen custodian Jalal.

Powerhouse Hassan barged his way into the box but lost track of the ball.

It was Macclesfield who nearly increased their lead in time added on.

Substitute Kristian Dennnis drew a fine save from Snedker and then angled his follow-up narrowly wide.
