Steve Guinan came close to grabbing a second goal in the 40th minute, heading wide at far post from a fine rigt wing cross from Luke Medley.
The hosts felt aggreived when Ryan Wade's goal ws ruled out for a foul in the build-up.
However, Harriers ended the first half with a deserved lead, although they were tested by the hosts.
