MATT Gardiner has praised the way Harriers were able to bounce back following a three match win-less run to take the three points at Aggborough against York City on Tuesday night.

Forward Dan Bradley scored the first goals of his Kidderminster career following his summer move from AFC Fylde before the home side were pegged back in the dying moments of the game, giving the visitors a glimmer of hope.

The head of coaching said Kidderminster got their “just rewards” after what he believed was a good performance by the players in the 1-0 defeat to Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.

Speaking to The Shuttle after the game, Gardiner said: “It was all about the mind-set this evening. I think the gaffer’s been excellent with the group, coming back after the way we lost the game on Saturday.

“I actually thought the performance was good against Gainsborough, but it was just the 94th minute – a good goal from their point of view – and those things happen.

“Getting three points at home gives everyone a lift, but York are a very good team and we knew it was going to be tough, as it proved to be. But we got over the line and everybody’s happy and very proud with the performance.

“We’ve got a quality squad and I think everyone will agree with that. I’m sure many teams would like the players that we’ve got.

“But sometimes you’ve just got to stick at it, keep believing, and the chances will come.

“Just look at Dan [Bradley]. He’s kept going, he’s worked really hard and you look at his finishes tonight and he looks like he’s been knocking them in all season.

“What a great time for him to start scoring with the position we’re in and the games to go.

“You can say this game will give everyone a confidence boost, but the lads have remained confident, and if you do the right things and keep believing then nine times out of 10 you get your just rewards.

“We’ve carried on doing it, stayed very consistent in our approach and that’s paid off with the result tonight.”

Harriers will hope to replicate their Tuesday night performance when they make the journey to Alfreton Town this Saturday (3pm kick-off).
