HARRIERS ended months of speculation by securing midfielder Chris McPhee on a two-year deal.
The 26-year-old was much sought after by a host of clubs, including League Two outfit Cheltenham, but turned them all down to sign on the dotted line at Aggborough today.
McPhee was sensation for Harriers last season when he joined in February from Weymouth, helping to inspire a 13-game unbeaten run that took Harriers to the bring of the play-offs.
As part of the deal the club and the KHIST fans joined forces to pay for a car, which allows the former Weymouth, Ebbsfleet and Torquay man to travel from his home near Exeter.
McPhee hailed his impact of manager Mark Yates as one of the reasons why he joined the club.
McPhee said: "It has been a long summer, there has been a lot of talk, a lot of speculation and lot of rubbish thrown around really.
"The gaffer and I have always been honest with each other and been in constant contact and knew where each of us stood from the word go.
"I've always wanted to speak for the last few weeks about playing for the club.
"Ever since there was a chance to play for Harriers I have been more than happy to hear what he's got to say. We've come to an agreement and I'm happy to sign on for the next two years."
McPhee's signing will offset the disappointment that Russ Penn joined Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee today.
He is Harriers' third addition this weel after Dean Bennett and Martin Riley agreed to one-year deals.
