Burr not taking humbled Eastbourne lightly

3:00pm Friday 5th March 2010

HARRIERS manager Steve Burr won't be taking wounded Eastbourne lightly in tomorrow's Blue Square Premier clash.

The East Sussex outfit suffered a 6-0 humbling to title-chasing Stevenage mid-week to continue their miserable run of results at home.

Borough have won just once home match in the last 13 attempts, sparking hopes that Harriers can pick up a rare away win themselves.

But Burr believes his side will face a side galvanised, rather than demoralised, by their mid-week thrashing.

"They lost very heavily to Stevenage and I know from personal experience that will have hurt their pride a lot," he commented.

"They'll be a wounded animal and I'm sure that Garry Wilson will have them motivated and up for this game.

"But we're on a good run at the moment and I'm eager to make sure we keep that going."

Harriers go into the match on the back of a nine-game unbeaten run in 2010.

Recent results at Oxford and Crawley have bolstered the Aggborough outfit's confidence but Harriers have not bagged an away league win since the 2-0 victory Kettering in November.

Burr will have to contend with the loss of influential player/coach John Finnigan, who misses Saturday's clash because of a calf injury sustained in the 2-2 draw with Ebbsfleet.

That means Marc Goodfellow could make his third start since joining Harriers on-loan.

New additions Jack Byrne and Adam Boyes could be in the squad, while Port Vale hitman James Lawrie is set to be available after scoring for Northern Ireland under-21s against San Marino.

Burr said: "John's been absolutely brilliant for me since I came to the club and he's an important player.

"We've got to be careful with him and I won't risk him because we've got some really big games coming up."

Harriers' opponents will be without the suspended Darren Baker, so Neil Jenkins and Sacha Opinel will be vying for the vacant left-back spot.

Midfielder Matt Smatt may be included after being on the bench for the last two games.
