Harriers have rewarded the efforts of full-backs Lee Vaughan and Mickey Demetriou with new deals.
Left-back Mickey Demetriou has penned new terms at Aggborough after becoming something of a revelation in the side over the last couple of months.
Signed from Eastbourne back in the summer, he had to wait patiently for his chance to impress but certainly took it after breaking through last October.
With more than 20 games under his belt – and one goal – he has now firmly established himself as a regular fixture and has impressed with some consistent performances.
Meanwhile, his fellow defender Vaughan has also secured a fresh, longer-term deal after making a marked improvement on an already-impressive first season at Aggborough last time around.
This year he has proved not only a solid member of the defence but also a key point of the attack, causing problems for back-lines around the country as well as notching four goals from the penalty spot.
Since signing in the summer of 2010, Vaughan has made a total of 65 appearances for the club.
Both players have been handed new contracts that will tie them to Harriers until the summer of 2014.
“I know Lee has enjoyed his time here so far and likes the way we worK," commented boss Steve Burr of the news.
“He has matured and developed since he has been here and, in my opinion, is now one of the best right-backs outside of the Football League.
“We knew when we signed Mickey and even when we saw him playing for Eastbourne last year that the potential was there.
“He got into the side when Mike [Williams] was out of the side injured but even managed to keep him out for a considerable time after that with his performances.
“The one thing about both of these boys is that they’re young and hungry – we want to keep on building and improving on what we have here.
“They are happy here and I have to thank the Chairman and all of the Board for what they’ve done in allowing us to keep these lads.
“It’s nice for our supporters to know that we have two lads here who are going to be here for another good couple of years.”
