MANAGER Steve Burr is sure his Harriers side go into their must-win game at Grimsby Town in confident mood.

The Aggborough outfit must win at Blundell Park to give their Blue Square Bet Premier play-off hopes a shot.

Victory could effectively knock the Mariners out of the play-off reckoning and set Harriers up nicely for a run-in which includes promotion rivals Mansfield, Luton and Southport.

Wins over Braintree and Darlington and a draw at Tamworth have ensured they go into Saturday’s encounter with spirits lifted.

Harriers and Grimsby and locked on 64 points after 40 league games.

Burr is relishing the clash, he said: “This is a game we are all really looking forward to. After our results in last week or so it’s game on in the league again.

“I watched Grimsby on Tuesday and they are a good side but we will be going there to try and win the game.

“With our records being so even, three points could make a difference in the play-offs.

“We’ll make sure we’re ready for them as we’re taking on a side which up until recently had been on a very good run of form.”

Harriers are only three points off the top five with six games to go but they have played more games than many of their rivals, meaning they cannot afford to drop any points in their quest for the Football League.

Burr refused to be drawn on how many points will be needed to secure fifth-place.

He said: “There are still a number of teams who could still get into the play-offs, including ourselves and Grimsby.

“We won’t know how many points will be needed until the last day when we play Mansfield but it’s very tight at the moment.”

The manager has no injuries concerns or absences going into the game, apart from long-term absentee Danny Lewis, Tom Sharpe and Jamille Matt.

Meanwhile, their opponents are also struggling for results after a fantastic run of form. Grimsby lost one game in 22 to put themselves in contention for promotion but just two wins in nine matches slowed their momentum.

Striker Liam Hearn returned to the side after a two-game absemce on Tuesday night to bag a goal in the 1-1 draw at Tamworth.

Meanwhile, Town skipper Craig Disley is a doubt after a bout of illness kept him out of training on Thursday.
