CHAIRMAN Mark Serrell has urged all fans from across the Midlands to descend on Aggborough and back Kidderminster Harriers as they make one final push for the play-offs.

Harriers need to beat Mansfield on Saturday in a grandstand finale to the regular campaign and hope rivals Luton lose at champions Fleetwood, to seal a top-five place in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Their Football League aspirations suffered a setback after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Kenilworth Road saw the Hatters leapfrog them but the Bedfordshire outfit’s 0-0 draw at Gateshead on Tuesday keeps the dream alive.

With victory absolutely vital, Serrell has called on the Harriers faithful and fans from all the Midlands clubs to pack out the ground.

“If you had offered the club this position at the start of the season we would have definitely taken it,” said Serrell.

“We want as many of our own fans in the ground singing Harriers to victory, they could make a big difference.

“I also implore the region’s football fans to put any rivalry aside, take a week off from watching their own team and back the Harriers, because we’ll certainly be providing plenty of excitement on Saturday.

“I want the atmosphere to be like when we played Fleetwood last year.

“It was electric that night and played its part and we’d love that to happen again.”

On Saturday, a 751-strong army of supporters made the trip to Luton to watch the game, with the club providing 10 coach-loads of fans.

If Harriers succeed in their quest to finish in that final spot they would have little time to prepare for the play-off semi-finals against second-placed Wrexham.

The first leg would be held at Aggborough next Thursday (7.45pm kick-off), followed by a trip to the Racecourse Ground on Monday, May 7 (4.30pm kick-off). Both matches would be televised on Premier Sports.

Manager Steve Burr was delighted Harriers had taken this year’s thrilling race for the top five into the final day of the season, but was focused on defeating Mansfield in Saturday’s clash, which kicks-off at 1pm. The Stags have already sealed third place and a spot in the end of season party.

He said: “It has been a fantastic season. To take our hunt for the play-offs into the last game of the season is a great achievement.

“We’ve got to win our game and hope the result at Fleetwood goes our way but we can’t worry about that.

“Mansfield are a good side playing with confidence but we’ll be fighting to the bitter end to get a result and I hope we get into the play-offs.”

Jack Byrne (hamstring), Kyle Storer and Nick Wright (knee) are all injury doubts going into Saturday’s final match.
