PERSHORE Town Football Club are hoping for a bright future after revealing they are now on a sound financial footing.

In the 15 months since the new committee took over, the Midland League Division One club have gone from strength to strength.

Around £25,000 of debts and other liabilities have been repaid, according to a spokesman, while there are now 15 junior teams and four girls team playing alongside the first-team at the Winstanley & Co King George V Stadium.

The news was revealed at the club’s annual general meeting, at which the committee was re-elected for another two years.

A spokesman said monies owed had been repaid “due to a focussed effort on improving income streams, marketing of the function room and a stringent reassessment of all supplier contracts and financial commitments.”

He added: “The committee’s primary objective of saving the club from its previous financial predicament and now operating a sustainable club for the benefit of the community, has been achieved.

“In addition to the hard work and dedication of the committee and other club helpers, we also want to thank those local companies who have helped achieve this result.”
