THE Worcestershire Cricket Society have announced their programme of monthly meetings to be held at New Road’s Graeme Hick Pavilion during the winter.

A mixture of current and former players and various authors will entertain society members on the second Tuesday of each month from October through to March.

Former players Bob Carter and Derek Pearson, who between them took more than 700 first-class wickets for the County, will be first on the bill on October 14.

The Worcestershire website editor John Curtis presents a light-hearted quiz evening on November 11 comprising questions on sport, music and general knowledge among others.

Gary Sobers’ six sixes for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan in 1968 will be recalled by author Grahame Lloyd and John Parkin, the batsman at the non striker’s end, on December 9.

Lloyd wrote a book on the famous over entitled Six Of The Best.

Mince pies will also be served on that evening.

In 2015, a current Worcestershire player will give his thoughts at the meeting on January 13.

Author and Radio Five Live’s Patrick Murphy will make a return visit to Worcester on February 10.

The winter programme ends with a visit from Isabelle Duncan, author of Skirting The Boundary — a history of women’s cricket.

For anyone wishing to join the society, the membership fee is £15 for one person and £20 for a double membership or people can pay £3 for each evening as a non-member.
