KIDDERMINSTER Harriers travel to table-topping Barnet tomorrow (3pm) with Gary Whild hoping his side’s fortune has changed for the better.

The Aggborough side’s manager felt Harriers deserved their slice of luck as they defeated Welling 2-1 in a BT-Sport televised Vanarama Conference Premier clash on Wednesday night.

It ended a run of two games without a win for Harriers and moved them to within two points of the top five.

“We had a little bit of luck,” said Whild. “We were not at our best but we got a win.

“We’ve played a lot better and got nothing so it was one of those where we’re glad to get the three points.”

A deflected first-half strike by right-back Jared Hodgkiss — his first for the club — and an own goal settled a game which drifted for long periods.

Harriers, who put in a scrappy display but defended solidly, endured a tense second-half when Harry Beautyman pulled a goal back.

Kidderminster were joined by around 200 vocal Hereford United supporters who vented their anger against the Edgar Street regime in a peaceful protest at Aggborough.

Hereford’s fans brought a host of flags and banners which were caught by the BT Sport television cameras.

Homes Under The Hammer presenter Martin Roberts was also at the ground with his camera and interviewed Bulls fans for a potential documentary on the crisis at Hereford.

Amid the off-the-field woes, Jon Taylor’s Bulls entertain mid-table Cambridge City tomorrow in the Southern League Premier Division at Edgar Street (3pm).

Despite a goal from full-back Javier Roberts, 16th-placed United slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Corby Town watched by their lowest league gate of 254 on Tuesday night.

Manager Taylor said: “We are having terrible luck in these matches.

“I cannot believe it and I hope our luck changes for the better — and quickly.

‘It is soul destroying to suffer in this manner — it is quite unbelievable.”
