WORCESTER Wanderers crashed to a 15-7 derby defeat against Hereford in rugby's Midlands One West and saw their bonus-point hopes crushed with the last kick of the match.

Wanderers ignored numerous kicking opportunities from penalties and persisted with scrums and line-outs, which foundered on the solid Hereford defence.

Despite having plenty of territory and possession, particularly in the second- half, Wanderers failed to convert their possession into points apart from a penalty try, awarded after persistent Hereford infringements.

The Wanderers lost good field positions after conceding penalities at the breakdown and Hereford were worthy winners at the final whistle.

Upton brought on Andy Ford at half- time to add some weight to the side but still this did not change the course of the game.
