WORCESTER set out against newly-promoted Chesterfield with the sole aim of coming away with another win and holding the top spot in the Warwick Printing Midlands League One.

This they did with an impressive 4-0 success.

The game started evenly, but Worcester’s defence continued to break the back lines with their half-pitch aerials to the baseline with Jonathan Sprague and Chris Perry neatly picking them out of the air.

This caused problems for the Chesterfield defence, allowing a lot of space to be created in their half of the pitch and for Worcester’s Chris Kendall and Joseph Schubert to perform some quality skills.

Tom Schubert won the first short corner of the game and the ball was driven to skipper Rob Riddell who stick stopped and then drilled the ball into the bottom right corner with a reverse-stick shot.

Although Chesterfield were behind, they managed to break which then left Worcester’s keeper James Gerrish in a one-on-one with Chesterfield’s forward.

Gerrish tackled the Chesterfield forward with his stick, coming away with the ball, allowing him to slap it to Ollie Keenan who then attacked down the right laying the ball off to Perry at the top of the ‘D’.

He casually played the ball through the last defender’s foot, winning another short corner.

Worcester set themselves up for the short corner and captain Riddell stepped up to receive the ball at the top of the ‘D’ to strike his shot deep into the goal.

So after only 16 minutes Worcester were sitting with a two-goal advantage and won another short corner soon after.

This time it was Tom Selleck and Schubert involved and the latter received the ball at the top of the ‘D’ and hit it into the bottom left corner.

Worcester won another short corner following some slick individual skills from Steve Miles.

The visitors pulled off one of their many set moves, ending with Joe Schubert flicking the ball over the keeper for a 4-0 interval lead.

Worcester set out for the second-half with a 5-3-2 formation, which meant Chesterfield could not find any room to create.

Worcester had their own chances through Sprague and Tom Schubert but they saw the game out with a comfortable win to continue their undefeated run and remain at the top of the table.
