ROBIN Harris was the star at the Worcester Golf and Country Club seniors section’s presentation night.

Harris, who has only been a member for two years after concentrating on squash and racquetball, picked up three awards at the evening.

Paired up with Brian Warrington, they won the Dick Jolly Foursomes, beating John Matthews and Peter Cook in the final.

Harris also lifted the Jackson Cup and Seniors Championship.

He also won the Francis Marrian Trophy, a competition open to full members.

With all the success, Harris has seen his handicap tumble from 28 to 18 in just under two years.

Other victors saw Brian Gardner claim the Gladwin Cup, while the Seniors Charity Cup went to Robin Lowe.

The Des Butler Cup was won by Brian Eyers, the R Moulder Trophy by Trevor Norton, the Main Bowl by Melvyn Merry and the Laws-Hobbs Trophy by David Hall.

Outgoing captain David Simms handed over a tie to the new seniors captain Steve Howarth, who presented Simms with the Captain’s Tankard.

Meanwhile, the annual Royal British Legion fundraising competition saw a large field participate in the better-ball stableford.

Pete Griffiths (4 handicap) and Alan Boocock (13) triumphed with 44 points.

The November Sunday stableford saw a high number of non-returns as torrential rain swept the course in mid-afternoon.

The winner, playing off seven handicap, was junior Alex Band with 39 points.

Intermediate Solomon Drew (6 handicap-38 points) was runner-up and Steve Hollinshead third.
