GARY Whild says he’s honoured to be the manager of Kidderminster Harriers, despite the club’s financial difficulties.

The Aggborough boss was told to reduce the club’s wage bill and he has sent players out on loan to ease the situation.

Forward Michael Gash is the latest to leave Harriers on a two-month deal with lowly Vanarama Conference rivals Nuneaton Town pouncing.

Back-up keeper Jasbir Singh joined Conference North outfit Gloucester City and midfielder Josh O’Keefe went to Chester, managed by ex-Kidderminster boss Steve Burr, for a similar period.

Striker Reece Styche has already linked up with Tamworth in the division below for a month.

Although Harriers’ finances remain stable in the short term, due to the support of former directors Kath and Ernie Lane, Whild has seen his playing budget reduced while the board seek new investors to provide a much-needed cash injection.

The Harriers boss takes his side to former Football League side Bristol Rovers today (3pm).

Kidderminster will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday’s 2-0 home defeat to Aldershot.

Whild insisted: “It’s an honour to be managing a club like Kidderminster Harriers.

“The club’s going through a tough time and, while it’s our job to excite the fans, we must also remember we’ve got professional footballers who have bills to pay.

“With the club’s financial situation, there will always be uncertainty in the back of a player’s mind.

“It’s my job to keep them upbeat and motivated.”

Former Wrexham keeper Joslain Mayebi has been training with Harriers and could be used as back-up to first-choice shot-stopper Danny Lewis.

Meanwhile, Harriers’ young guns provided some joy as they won 1-0 at Burton Albion in the FA Youth Cup second round.

Connor Perry-Holmes scored the only goal for Steve Guinan’s side, who have been drawn at home to Blackpool in the next round on Saturday, December 20 (7pm).
