WORCESTER produced an improved display in a 2-0 home defeat against the University of Birmingham thirds in Midlands League Division Two.
Good defending by Lucy Walton, Issy Heath, Nic Gerrett, Helen Barnes and Izzy Friedlander kept the students at bay in the early stages.
Worcester’s confidence grew and they started to develop small attacks through good play from the midfield of Sarah Baggs, Jess Thornton and Leah Heath.
Worcester finished the first-half in good spirits and had a stronger start to the second-half and were unfortunate not to open up the scoring.
Despite good defending by Walton and Ria Pedlingham, Worcester gave away a flick which allowed Birmingham to take the lead.
A quick break by Birmingham in the final few minutes caught out Worcester’s defence and the students notched a second goal.
A hat-trick from Emily Sale led Worcester seconds to a 6-0 battering of Redditch in an outstanding performance.
As a result Worcester remain fourth in the table.
