WORCESTERSHIRE’S Tom Rimmer has been recognised by the Football Association as one of the top 15 coaches in the country aged under 24.

As a result, the Worcester Sixth Form College first-year student has been picked to attend a National Youth Sports Trust event at Loughborough University from December 19 until 23.

Rimmer began coaching three years ago after a work placement with Zig Zag Coaching.

He has worked there ever since, teaching sports skills to those aged two to 25 in Worcestershire.

Rimmer is studying AS levels in biology, English language, physical education and psychology.

But he still fits in four hours of coaching a week as well as the administrative tasks that come with being a volunteer co-ordinator for a sports coaching company.

Rimmer is setting up his own business, with the aim of offering sport-based parties and events, and hopes to continue to develop his coaching skills.

The Loughborough event will be a chance to further enhance his coaching abilities and prepare him for a future career as a professional coach.
