A HAT-TRICK of tries from Tommy Bell laid the foundations for Worcester Wanderers Rugby Club's crushing 42-0 victory against newly-promoted Leek in Midlands One West.

Bell scored the opening two tries in a one-sided affair as play-off chasing Wanderers racked up their 11th league win.

He twice outpaced his opposite number on the outside to score, following good work by Paul Burton, Mike Dodge and Olly Meadows.

The Wanderers forwards began to edge the tussle with Richard Ralph and James Priddey all prominent for the hosts.

Several attacking scrums had Leek under severe pressure, eventually they cracked and the beneficiary was the Wanderers No 8, Jake Saddington, who bagged two pushover tries.

Wanderers continued to press after the interval and they dominated territory against plucky opposition.

However, a mixture of the determined Leek defence and Wanderers’ errors, made points hard to come by.

The breakthrough came when Mike Dodge released Callum Partridge on the right and he steamed over for a fine try.

Bell completed his superb treble shortly afterwards and Lee Watson rounded of the scoring with a try in the final moments as the Leek defence tired.

Meadows slotted two conversions and a first-half penalty as Wanderers maintained second spot in the table.
