CHAIRMAN Ken Rae says Kidderminster Harriers are working hard to rectify drainage issues with the pitch at Aggborough.

Harriers spent £50,000 renovating the surface during the summer but it has deteriorated significantly.

The Boxing Day match between tenants Worcester City and Hednesford Town was abandoned after 75 minutes when the pitch became waterlogged.

Although Harriers were able to play their fixture against Southport two days later, a game they lost 1-0, the pitch has been struggling to cope despite the relatively mild winter to date.

It has led to some Harriers fans questioning the work carried out, while player-coach Josh Gowling described it as “the worst pitch in the league.”

Kidderminster are due to host Forest Green Rovers today with City entertaining Guiseley in Conference North on Sunday.

Rae says the club are looking at various options to try to repair the pitch.

The Harriers chief added: “We’ve got a problem with the water not being able to get through the top layer.”
