HOT-SHOTS from the Worcestershire County Association have secured trials for next season’s England squads.

Droitwich’s Phil Green and Worcester’s Andy MacDonald and Scott Surridge will have national men’s trials with Tad Marszalek, of Droitwich, going in the over 50s.

England international Sarah Nicklin, of Kidderminster, tries out for the women’s team with Worcester’s Josh Boon (Worcester) and Droitwich’s Jay Robinson trialling for the junior squad.

The trials will be held early next year across the country.

Worcestershire rounded off their English Pool Association Region Three fixtures for the season with the men’s A team finishing third.

Needing 28 frames to secure the runners-up spot, a man-of-the-match display from Nathan Williams led Worcestershire to a 23-21 win against the West Midlands.

The men’s B team drew 22-22 with the West Midlands to take third spot in their division after a fine display from Shaun Norrey.

Worcestershire women lost 23-21 to the West Midlands, despite Karen Bevan impressing, and finished third.

The county junior team were buoyed by an excellent showing from player-of-the-match Robinson but they slipped to a 26-18 loss to the West Midlands to come third.

Nigel Vickerman shone in the over 50s’ 16-9 defeat to the West Midlands and the county will finish third or fourth.

The association will hold their annual meeting on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Rileys Sports Bar, Shrub Hill Road, Worcester, starting at noon.

They need a sponsor for their junior team. The first round of regional matches start at Herefordshire in Ross-on-Wye on February 22.
