EVESHAM’S Adam Huckvale reached the Coral UK Open second round before losing to eventual semi-finalist Stephen Bunting.
The Vale thrower, who made the ITV4-televised event by claiming a qualifier at Rileys, Shrub Hill, Worcester, won two matches at Butlins in Minehead.
Huckvale beat Rory Duffy 5-2 in the preliminary round of the competition and Gary O’Donnell by the same score in the first round before crashing to Premier League player Bunting 5-2.
Bunting went on to reach the last four, where he was surprisingly whitewashed 10-0 by Peter Wright, who then lost 11-5 to Michael van Gerwen in the final.
Ledbury’s Terry Jenkins lost 9-3 to Jamie Caven in round three in his first match in the competition.
