WORCESTERSHIRE driver Matt Neal reckons Honda Yuasa Racing’s new Civic Type R has huge potential in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The 2015 campaign gets under way at Brand Hatch’s Indy circuit this weekend, with qualifying today ahead of three rounds of action tomorrow.

Neal, who is chasing a fourth title, will once again be linking up with 2012 winner Gordon Shedden as Pershore-based Honda look to make an impact at the top of the standings.

The Shenstone driver said: “The car feels good. It’s very agile to drive and very nimble on its toes — it certainly feels as good as it looks.

“Being so new, the Civic Type R still has loads of untapped potential. For now, we need to walk before we can run but when we do start running, it really will be a case of catch us if you can.”

Also lining up on the grid will be the Rob Austin Racing Audi A4s of team principal Rob Austin and Hunter Abbott, who are also based in Pershore.

Austin said: “I am sure we are set for our most competitive season yet in the BTCC.”
