EVESHAM United found the net five times for the second game running to end Didcot Town's chances of finishing in the Eve-Stik Southern League Division One South and West play-offs with a comprehensive 5-1 win.

It was another awesome display by the Robins, who never looked back after going 2-0 ahead early on and they comfortably made it eight wins on the bounce with just one defeat in 26 games in a remarkable run for Paul Collicutt's men.

United made their intentions known from the start and it took a fine save by Town keeper James Foster to deny the energetic Marcus Jackson inside the opening 60 seconds and prevent Evesham forging ahead.

It was not long, however, before two quick goals put United firmly in the driving seat.

Adam Mann finished off a sweeping move to volley home from 20 yards and then the impressive Lee Smith was upended in the box by Jamie Heapy with captain Matt Sysum coolly making it 2-0 from the penalty spot.

Despite the poor playing surface, United continued to play attractive football, going close through Mann and Ashley Edenborough, but against the run of play Pablo Haysham pulled a goal back for the hosts when his scuffed shot crept over the line with keeper Kevin Sawyer wrong-footed.

With Linden Dovey and Sysum outstanding at the back, the league's leading scorer John Mills rarely got a kick and never looked like adding to his 53 goals this season.

Instead, Evesham cranked up the pressure and, roared on by a large travelling support, added two more goals in five second-half minutes.

Jackson made it 3-1 with a crisp finish past Foster and Lance Smith volleyed in spectacularly after neat skills by Lee Smith on the edge of the box.

There was still time for a fifth and final goal when Lee Smith glided past two defenders down the right and his low cross was touched in by the unmarked Lance Smith at the back post to complete another perfect away day by the Robins.
