NORTH Midlands have named eight newcomers in their squad for their opening match in this season’s County Championship Bille Beaumont Cup Second Division against Surrey at Stourbridge’s Stourton Park tomorrow (3pm).

Luctonians hooker Jordan Street, Bromsgrove openside flanker Sam Montieri, Stourbridge scrum-half Jacob Nash, centres Tom Millen (Bromsgrove) and Alex Smith (Luctonians) and wing Tom Hunt (Bromsgrove) will all start for North Midlands.

Former North Midlands Under-20 captain Gino Belmonte, who rejoined Bromgsrove from Cambridge midway through the season, is set to make his senior county debut off the bench along with his club mate Chris Morgan.

North Midlands will be captained by Birmingham & Solihull lock Chris Goddard as they begin their campaign to win promotion to the top flight of the County Championship for the third time in four years following relegations last season and in 2012.

North Midlands travel to Brixham to play Devon on May 16 and then host Somerset at Stourbridge on May 23. The top team in the group will be promoted and will meet the winners of Division Two North in the final at Twickenham on May 31.
