MALVERN’S Bob Ceen heads to the Welshpool-based Plains Rally this weekend as the leading driver in this season’s Pirelli MSA Welsh Forest Rally Championship.

Ceen has yet to win a round this term but has shown plenty of consistency in his Subaru Impreza World Rally Car to top the standings after twice finishing in the runners-up spot and taking a sixth place.

Another Worcestershire driver, Paul Davy, is in second place and, together with co-driver Roger Allen, heads the standings in Group N for less modified cars in his Subaru Impreza.

The series has seen a big surge in registrations this season and has so far produced three different winners in the opening three rounds.

The inaugural RAVENOL Welsh Challenge, which offers competitors in all classes the opportunity to vie for a prize fund worth over £3000 is headed by Jamie Jukes who is just two points ahead of Davy, while Ceen and John Baker share third spot.

Competitors im the event, organised by Knutsford and District Motor Club, will leave Welshpool from 8am on Saturday morning to tackle stages including the classic Gartheiniog stage which will run twice, from 9.20am and again from 2.50pm. The cars are scheduled to arrive back in Welshpool from 4pm.
