Worcestershire & Herefordshire will be without three members of Old Halesonians’ North Midlands Cup-winning squad when they face holders Shropshire in the Iskitz Three Counties Championship final at Wassell Grove on Sunday (3pm).

Guy Field, Loz Breeze and Andy Holloway all helped Old Halesonians beat Whitchurch in last Sunday’s county cup final but they are now involved in an end-of-season club tour so will miss the Three Counties final which is being played at their club’s home ground.

Also missing for Worcestershire & Herefordshire are Adam Dixon (Malvern) and Daniel Hawkins (Dudley Kingswinford) because of injury and Olive Bache of Bromsgrove who is unavailable this weekend.

But Kidderminster Carolians half-backs Chris Pinner and George Morgan return having missed last week’s victory over Greater Birmingham in the final group match which clinched W&H’s place in the final.

Shropshire are defending champions and will be seeking to win the title for a third consecutive year.

“Obviously Shropshire rugby is on a high at the moment so they are firm favourites and quite rightly so.,” said W&H coach Nick Tisdale.

“We are really pleased that we have 10 clubs being represented across the Two Counties. Duncan Hughes, Steve Joslin and I have been extremely pleased with how the boys have worked and their commitment to county rugby this season.

“We have had to replace a few boys for the final from Worcester Wanderers and Old Halesonians because they are on tour.

“I must also point out that our President Brian Garrett has been instrumental in upping the profile of this tournament this season. Also a big thank you to Lee Smith and John Wotton of Iskitz for their generous sponsorship of the competition.”
