TABLE-TOPPERS Kidderminster Victoria suffered a surprise defeat at lowly Wolverhampton as wet weather caused havoc with the Birmingham League Premier Division programme.

Wolverhampton’s Andy Bowyer took four for 29 as Kidderminster were restricted to 117 for nine in 28 overs at Danescourt, Michael Hill top scoring with 37. In reply, an unbeaten 53 from Ross Aucott eased Wolverhampton to a six-wicket success with 13 balls in hand.

Ombersley secured an eight-wicket win against Walmley which has lifted them to second place in the table, two points behind Kidderminster and two points ahead of Walmley, who slip to third.

Tom Burton (54) and Danial Chaudhry (50) added 76 for the fourth Walmley wicket, but three for 27 from Brett D’Oliveira saw them dismissed for 167 in the 51st over.

An unbroken third-wicket stand of 119 between Uday Kaul (68 not out) and D’Oliveira (52 not out) saw Ombersley canter home in the 38th over.

Brockhampton crashed to a seven-wicket home defeat to Knowle & Dorridge after they won the toss and elected to bat first.

Will Mottram took five for 43 to reduce Brockhampton to 95 all out, with Chris Powell hitting 30 for the Herefordshire side.

An unbeaten 41 from Alex Phillips steered K & D to victory and back into the top half of the table, where 11 points separate the top five clubs.

The bad weather played an even more prominent role in Division One, where only two games reached a finish and one of them was reduced to a 30 overs per side contest after a late start.

Bromsgrove’s home match against Oswestry was halted with the hosts in full flow on 151 for three from 30 overs.

A second-wicket stand of 101 between Alexei Kervezee (69) and Ash Newfield (61) had set up a promising position for Bromsgrove before the rain intervened.

The match between Harborne and Barnards Green was abandoned with the home side on 20 without loss in the fourth over, a fate that also befell the match between Moseley and Leamington Spa which was abandoned with the home side on 23 without loss in the fourth over.

In Division Two, third-placed Sutton Coldfield reached 244 for four declared against Old Elizabethans after Lee Thomason hit 97, Geoff Hodgkinson scored 60 and James Hunt, who added 112 for the fourth wicket with Thomason, finished unbeaten on 39. Liam Booth took three for 72 for OE’s, who had reached 157 for eight in 29 overs in reply by the end of the game.

Jamie Boyle scored 47 for OE’s and Dan Childs took five for 45 for Sutton.

Two sides struggling at the bottom of the table met at Deansfield, where Eastnor scored 154 all out from 47 overs and Brewood responded with 129 for nine from 44 overs.

Shameer Ahmed (41) and Atiq ur- Rehman (34) were the pick of the batsmen for Eastnor as David Wedge took four for 19 and Danny Smith took three for 49 for Brewood.

Bruce Thomason, with 25, was Brewood’s top scorer, with Ahmed (3-13) and Rehman (3-36) keeping a tight rein on things for Eastnor.

In a match reduced to 38 overs a side, leaders Bridgnorth reached 179 for nine against Halesowen, with Simon Gregory (53) and Tom Watson (35) to the fore. Eddie Rhodes took three for 32 for Halesowen, who struggled to 110 for nine in reply.

Kester Moseley top scored with 31, while Dale Quiney took four for 35 and David Exall picked up three for 11 for Bridgnorth.

Worcester reached 173 all out in 47 overs at Fordhouses in Division Three thanks to 95 not out from Mohammed Adeel.

The rest of the Worcester batting line-up crumbled to Kashif Hussein (5-38) and Chris Guest (4-40), before Fordhouses reached a revised target of 150 for eight from 38 overs to secure a winning draw.

Rahul Bakshi (107) and Tom Caulfield (59) put on 152 for the first Aston Manor wicket at Astwood Bank but the rest of the batsmen failed to capitalize on such a good start with Manor finishing on 242 for seven from 55 overs.

In reply, Steve Adshead (44) lead Astwood Bank to 189 for seven from 45 overs at the close.
