WORCESTER Golf and Country Club ace Ollie Farr loved the experience despite missing the halfway cut in his first US Open.

He managed rounds of 73 and 77 to finish on a 10-over-par total of 150 to bow out at the Chambers Bay course in Tacoma, Washington State, alongside some big names.

The 27-year-old now heads to the BMW International Open at Golfclub München Eichenried, Germany, from Thursday for his next test in a promising European Tour debut season.

Farr said: "Well it was not how I wanted it to go. I hit the ball great for two days but it just didn't happen on the greens. However, it was a phenomenal experience that I won't forget.

"I loved every minute of it and on a course that tests every part of your game, body and mind. Onto the next one now, Germany this week."

Farr, who plays for Wales, earned €3,578 for finishing joint 119th at Chambers Bay.

He was still ahead of golf legend Tiger Woods, who struggled to 16-over-par in also missing the cut.

The highlight of Farr's season so far was joint 27th and a €43,750 pay day at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Meanwhile, American Jordan Spieth created more history as he added the US Open championship to his Masters tournament victory on a dramatic final day.

The 21-year-old is halfway towards an unprecedented calendar grand slam after winning his second major in succession.
