EVESHAM United fans will hope for more pre-season goal feasts at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium with two more home fixtures on the way.

But the Robins must tighten up in defence after 523 fans saw full-time visitors Cheltenham Town, bidding to bounce back after relegation to the National League, return with a 7-3 pre-season friendly success last night.

Lee Smith, reserve defender Sam Comfort and striker Lance Smith scored for Evesham, who now host Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division new boys Stratford Town tomorrow night and Worcester City in the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup semi-finals next Monday (both 7.45pm).

Division One South and West outfit United have signed two more midfielders in Ben Maguire and Clayton Green, who scored the late equaliser in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Gosport Borough, to add to Ashley Williams.

Green was with Williams at Premier Division side Paulton Rovers last season and previously played for Carmarthen Town and Cirencester Town as well as the British Universities side.

Maguire joins from Bishop's Cleeve, while Evesham manager Paul Collicutt has re-signed defender Will Wellon, the versatile Kevin Slack and keeper Josh Goddard.

Wessex League Premier Division side Hanworthy United from Dorset will be Evesham's new pre-season opponents at the Jubilee Stadium on Saturday, August 1 (3pm).

The Robins have reduced match-day prices for under 16s from £3 to £2 from their original prices for 2015-16 with under fives admitted for free.

Last night, neighbours Cheltenham took a 22nd-minute lead through ex-Evesham loanee Harry Williams, who then made it two 13 minutes later.

Lee Smith netted for the hosts before half-time but Cheltenham extended their lead after the break through Amari Morgan-Smith and Billy Waters scored a fourth on the hour mark.

Midfielder Harry Pell bagged another on 70 minutes with Jack Munns adding a sixth soon after.

Comfort made it 6-2 on 77 minutes with a 30-yarder before Lance Smith struck with a direct free-kick three minutes from time.

However, Danny Wright completed the scoring for Cheltenham late on.
