TWO late goals gave Pershore Town a 2-0 victory against Studley in Midland League Division One.

Steve Webb and Peter Jenvey netted for Town in an entertaining first home league match of the campaign at the 2020SolarPV Stadium.

Andy Yarnold made an early save and was called into action again, clutching a swirling effort from Studley’s Danny Byford.

Joe Walsh could have opened the scoring for Town but he failed to connect properly when well placed.

Matt Mitchell hit a fierce shot which was well saved by the Studley goalkeeper as both teams had chances to score.

Town took control in the period, with Michael Skerrett going close and Walsh hitting a post with a left-footed effort.

Town opened the scoring in the 72nd minute when a lofted ball into the box was chested down by Skerrett to Webb who stroked home.

Town became more confident and Ellis Blakemore tested the visitors goalkeeper on a couple of occasions.

Pershore sealed the points when Blakemore’s long cross-field pass found Webb who beat the full-back and pulled back his cross for Jenvey to finish from close range.

Town entertain Heather St John’s on Saturday (3pm).

Westfields were well beaten 4-1 by visiting Lye Town who proved too strong for the Hereford club in the Midland League Premier Division.

They found themselves 3-0 down with only 40 minutes played before Craig Jones pulled a goal back from the penalty spot.

Westfields enjoyed a better spell in the second-half with Aidan Thomas, Jamie Cuss and Kane Kahaki all going close to pulling goals back.
