WORCESTER bowls club St Dunstans have lifted the England Men’s National Fours Championship after beating Kings from Devon at Leamington Spa.
Tony Yapp, Mark Atkins, Allan Griffiths and Ryan Atkins formed the Worcestershire club’s team who tasted glory at Victoria Park.
The Worcestershire rink recorded a 19-14 success in the final against Kings’ foursome Joe Melmore, Matt Bass, Louis Ridout and Sam Tolchard.
The St Dunstans rink had previously hammered Somerset’s Gerry Woods, Pip Branfield, Neil Westlake and Nick Pearce 27-5 in the semi-final.
St Dunstan’s path to success at the National Fours Championship was — first round: Cowes Medina, Isle of Wight, 22-14 (won); Second round: Poplar, Middlesex, 18-17 (won); third round: Essex County, Essex, 15-13 (won); quarter-finals: Gerrards Cross, Bucks, 23-8 (won); semi-finals: Clevedon, Somerset, 27-5 (won); final: Kings, Devon, 19-14 (won).
