ENGLAND youth central welterweight champion Grant Attwood faced Connor Fanning of Hall Green ABC in his first defence of the season.

The Worcester boxer knew he was up against a classy boxer but didn’t except to be drawn into the hard battle that prevailed.

From the first bell, Fanning displayed good mobility, moving around the ring with ease and pumping out fast punches. Attwood cut the ring down and tried to pressure him with hard combinations.

Fanning replied with good punches of his own and returned to his stool at the end of the first with a slight edge.

During the second, Attwood was determined to set the record straight and launched into his opponent, but Fanning had other ideas and the two traded heavy punches.

Into the third, Fanning took everything Attwood could throw and came back with the same intensity but more volume.

The fight of the night saw Fanning take the belt by way of a unanimous decision.
