SKIPPER Jared Hodgkiss says struggling Kidderminster Harriers are fully focused on securing their first win of the campaign.

Harriers are still searching for a head coach after Gary Whild and Tim Flowers left Aggborough last week.

Former Harriers academy boss Steve Guinan has ruled himself out of the running and is enjoying his coaching role at the Professional Footballers Association.

Rock-bottom Harriers host improving Welling United tomorrow (3pm) and will aiming to end a wretched 13-match winless run.

Ex-Coventry City coach Neil McFarlane is assisting Colin Gordon in his duties in the short-term.

Right-back Hodgkiss said: “All we can do is focus on Welling and when we get our first win, it will be a weight off our shoulders.

“We played well for 45 minutes against Barrow and if we can do that for longer the win will come.

“With the younger players I always look back at when I was a rookie. Some respond to an arm around the shoulder, while others need a kick up the backside.

“After the Lincoln defeat I had a bit of a rant in the dressing room. There is a lot at stake and it’s about our livelihoods.

“I am lucky to be a professional footballer and if Harriers were to be relegated then it would have a huge impact on the club.”

Welling are 18th in the table but will come to Aggborough on the back of a three-game winning streak which has propelled them out of danger.

The Wings moved five points clear of the relegation zone last weekend after defeating Halifax 2-0 at Park View Road.
