MEMBERS of Worcester’s Black Pear Joggers club took part in the Severn Athletic Club and Gloucestershire Amateur Athletics Association cross-country relay race at Oxstall Sports Park in Gloucester.

The race saw teams of men or women complete two-mile loops around a multi-terrain course before handing over to the next team member.

Black Pears entered three teams in the race with the men’s team consisting of Hugh Davies, Leonardo Taggio, Darren Salisbury and Chris Attwood finishing in third place to receive a packet of biscuits each.

There was also success for Darren Salisbury and Lorraine Griffiths who won their respective age group categories.

The success came a week after 186 Black Pears Joggers took part in the Worcester City 10 kilometres event around the streets of Worcester.

The fast, flat course, featuring Olympian Jo Pavey and local hero Jenny Nesbitt, saw 46 personal bests for Black Pears, while five finished in the top 25.

Ian Radford led the club home in a time of 35 minutes 21 seconds for 12th place.

Derek Jackson clinched first place in his age category, while Emily Seward finishing third in her age group.
