GOLFER Ollie Farr has lost his place as a fully-fledged European Tour professional after one season.

The Worcester Golf and Country Club member finished 156th overall on the European Tour with only the top 110 players retaining their cards for next term.

Farr, of Hereford, enjoyed a promising start to the campaign, including joint 27th place at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

The 27-year-old also compet - ed at the US Open n Cham - bers Bay, Washington, where he missed the cut.

But Farr had a disappointing second half of the season, missing the cut eight times in his final 10 competitions.

“Ollie has lost his card and we don’t know what his situ - ation is yet,” confirmed Graham Farr, the Worcester Golf and Country Club professional who coaches his son.

“We have a meeting lined up at the end of this week to see what his options are.

“We will be working hard to get it back next season.

Andy Sullivan lost his card after his first year on the European Tour but won it back and has gone from strength to strength.”

Farr had secured his place on the tour alongside golf ’s elite after finishing 10th in the European Challenge Tour rankings in 2014.

Farr, who represents Wales, missed the cut in his first two European Tour events in South Africa before finishing joint 57th at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

He was joint 45th at the Arica Open in Eastern Cape, 53rd at the Tshwane Open in Pretoria, joint 55th at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and joint 59th at the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco.

Other highlights included joint 34th at the M2M Rus - sian Open, joint 43rd at the Nordea Masters in Sweden, joint 44th in Denmark and joint 47th at the BMW Inter - national Open in Munich.

Graham added: “The first half of the season was rea - sonable and there were times when Ollie was well placedafter 36 holes but he didn’t convert his early promise into money and points.

“At Wentworth, for instance, Ollie finished joint 27th but he had been ninth and wasn’t able to kick on.

“Ollie is disappointed to have lost his card but he’s had a wonderful experience and is now working hard to get it back.

“It has deflated him and knocked his confidence but Ollie is keen to get back on the treadmill and was practising hard at the weekend.”
