DROITWICH Spa Athletics Club runner Paul Little is proving one to watch after a big improvement in his times.

The 40-year-old from the town has already achieved some impressive results this year with a win at the Stafford half-marathon and second in the Droitwich equivalent.

But Little’s time at the 2016 Virgin London Marathon especially caught the eye when he clocked two hours 37 minutes 51 seconds for 217th place from a field of more than 39,000.

The account executive, a member of the Droitwich club since 2010, has run around 14 marathons and 35 half-marathons.

Little said: “I would put my improvement in times down to perseverance and a bit of luck in staying injury-free.

“I pulled out of the Loch Ness Marathon last September after I fell and fractured my elbow just one week before the race — that was definitely a low point.”

Little also managed a 1.14.56 effort in the Prague half-marathon on his travels for 57th position.

His success in Stafford was out of a field of 2,734 in a time of 1.14.27 after he clocked 1.17.10 in the Droitwich half-marathon.

And, back in March, Little was selected to represent Worcestershire at the UK Cross-Country Inter-Counties Championships.
