BIG-hitting Alex Parker top-scored with 41 to lead Old Vigornians to victory at Martley in the Carter Cup first round.

The 20-year-old hit three sixes and three fours as the King’s School Worcester old boys won by six wickets.

Martley batted first and lost the dangerous Patrick Bibby first ball to Angus Guthrie.

On a pitch which favoured the bowlers, none of the other batsmen looked threatening.

Only three reached double figures and extras top scored with 15 as Martley were bowled out for 79.

Azmat Riaz and George Painter each took three wickets and Steve Protherough took the final two wickets in consecutive balls.

Ahsan Fiaz made an elegant 19 as OVs eased home.
