TABLE-TOPPING Worcester Nomads crashed to their first defeat of the campaign against Hagley in Worcestershire League Second XI Division One.

Nomads suffered a one-wicket reverse in a rain-affected match after Nomads’ Ollie Ranscombe made 85 not out in their 232-8.

Hagley edged home after chasing a reduced target of 227 from 46 overs.

Stourport defeated Worcester by nine runs thanks to Cristian Parry’s 117 not out and four wickets for 18 runs.

Colwall beat Netherton after Chris Kendal scored 100 not out.

Colwall lead Hagley by seven points and Redditch are six points further back after scoring 325 and conceding 325 at Pedmore. In other games, Evesham defeated Bewdley.

In Division Two, Rushwick defeated Avoncroft and Bromyard saw off Oldswinford.

In Division Three, Old Vigornians recorded a 71-run win in a 40 overs-a-side match at Alveley.

Openers Aidan Thompson and Tony Meek shared a match-winning opening partnership.

The pair added 127 for the first wicket before Meek was lbw for 35 and Thompson fell a few balls later for 78. OVs finished on 193-7.  Teenagers James Hayward-Meek, Ivan Campbell-Ferguson and Charles Clark each picked up a wicket, and debutant Ross Hands took three as Alveley stumbled to 45-6 after 20 overs.

Lee Clark steadied the ship and finished 51 not out, but Charlie Annable took 3-17 and Ed Burgoyne, 2-20, as Alveley were bowled out for 122.

Alvechurch are fourth after they won at home to Dominies thanks to 151 scored by Mike Gilmour, while Kempsey have risen off the foot of the table by beating Claverley as Irfan Kayani took 6-14.

Division Four table-toppers Himbleton lost to Stourport and Barnards Green hammered Oldswinford by 10 wickets.

Division Five joint-leaders Hallow and Worcester's Old Elizabethans had mixed fortunes as Hallow beat Redditch by 23 runs and OEs lost to Old Hill by 52 runs.

Pershore defeated Highley in Division Six and Cutnall Green annihilated Worcester Nomads and Ombersley beat Hagley.

Division Seven South’s leaders are Ombersley Taverners who overtook Kidderminster after the latter conceded to them and Worcester lost to Bartestree.

Bredon defeated struggling Bromyard and Bewdley overcame Evesham despite Jack Haines scoring an excellent and defiant 134.
