WORCESTER bowlers returned from Cheltenham’s Whaddon with a six-shot win 99-93 after taking three of the five rinks.

The visitors took time to adapt to the spongy surface and found themselves 17 shots in arrears at five ends after dropping a five and four.

At the halfway stage, Worcester still trailed by 14 but over the following five ends they reduced the arrears to an odd shot after scoring a six, five and four.

By the 18th, Worcester had taken a five-shot lead after picking up another five and four.

Finishing with a four on the final end secured a fine victory, Leading the way for Worcester was Rob Dawson’s rink who, after collecting two fives and two fours, finished victors by 13.

Picking up a six and finishing with a four also gave Andy Cook’s rink a 13-shot victory.

Worcester’s other winning rink led by Arthur Jackson also won by 13.

Winning on four rinks and one tie gave Worcester a 20-shot victory 102-82 on their visit to Droitwich Spa.

At five ends, Worcester had gained a nine-shot lead after picking up a five and four.

Scoring four threes over the following five ends, Spa reduced the deficit to a single shot.

Over the second period, Worcester gradually increased their advantage to gain victory after scoring a five, two fours and three threes.

Worcester’s winning rinks were led by Dawson, who took an early lead and finished victors by eight.

After a close contest, Mick Bullock’s pulled ahead over the final ends to finish winners by six.

Trailing by eight after 10 ends and then winning the following eight ends, Andy Cook led his rink to a three-shot success.

Also winning by three in another close game, Ian Hunt’s rink finished with a four to run out victors.

Trailing throughout the game, Ron Ling’s foursome finished with a five on the final end to claim a draw.
