DROITWICH Tennis Club men’s B team sealed promotion back to Herefordshire and Worcestershire Summer Doubles League Division Four.

They enjoyed a 6-0 victory over Belbroughton B as Scott Howell and Joe Maidment won their matches 6-3, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-7, 6-1.

Bob Smith and Mark Pearsall came from a set down to prevail 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 and then triumphed 6-2, 6-3.

Nick King and Eric Cartelet won 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 7-6.

Oliver Shier, Adam Hair, Robin Poyser, Robin Jones, Carlos Segura, John Moran, Rich Clive and Dave Lamb have also played for the team over the season in Division Five.

The C team bolstered their chances of Division Four survival despite a losing draw at home to Hallow A.

Stand-in captain Neil Bates and Ben Steel won 7-6, 6-1 before losing to a powerful pair in their second match.

Despite the best efforts of experienced pair John Wright and Richard Skinner, they lost both encounters in straight sets.

Clive and Moran battled hard to win their first match in three sets before a comfortable victory in the second.

The Droitwich D team played fine tennis to prevail with a 6-0 victory against Bewdley F in Division Eight.

Ian Ross and James Stanford came through 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 before enjoying a more comfortable 6-4, 6-2 success.

Ricky Hollander and Peter Fawcus triumphed 6-3, 6-4 and 6-0, 6-4, while Tom Trow and James McKelvey won 6-2, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-3.

The table-topping mixed B team ended their summer season with a 3-1 victory at Bromsgrove B in Division Three.

Heidi Harris and Steel started off with a 6-1, 6-4 win before losing a tight battle 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. 

Kate Hughes and Ben Buckley won 6-2, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-1.
