HALLOW are celebrating the most successful season in the cricket club’s long history.

Entering four competitions at the start of the 2016 summer campaign, Hallow ended the season as three-time champions.

The midweek XI brought home the first trophy of the year by winning the Worcester Evening League, retaining the same title won in 2015.

Midweek captain Stuart Hayes and his team demonstrated their mastery of the shorter form of the game in also winning the Tansell Cup in August.

In the Worcestershire League, Hallow were crowned Second XI Division Five champions.

The villagers played with a new-found confidence and resilience from the first game, topping the table from start to finish.

Captain Mark Parish said: “It’s been an absolute privilege to captain a side filled with such committed cricketers, all of whom are proud to represent the village of Hallow.

“Everybody has contributed throughout the season and we are lucky to have had such great local support.”

The season of success is part of the long-term strategy of Hallow to compete at every level and develop and promote the cricket locally.

Chairman Mark Winfield said: “The progress that our teams have made this year has been nothing short of astounding.

“To win three titles and to finish a very close third in another is testament to the the hard work done by my predecessor, this year’s captains and all who freely give up their time to support the club.

“Of perhaps greater importance is the development of our new youth section — a first in the history of the club.

“I am delighted we have attracted so many new, young players who have played their first competitive matches this season.”
