WORCESTER men bounced back from the previous weekend's defeat with a resounding 4-1 home win over West Bridgford in the Midland Premier League.

The visitors enjoyed most of the possession in the opening minutes, forcing Worcester to defend deep in their own half.

But the hosts grew in confidence, playing fast counter-attacking hockey, and Chris Kendall put them ahead with a reverse-stick shot from the left of the D.

A short corner on half-time allowed Tom Schubert to double the lead with a trademark drag-flick.

Jon Sprague added skill on the right early in the second half, linking well with Joe Schubert, who netted a third.

West Bridgford pulled a goal back two minutes later from open play.

Joe Schubert was on target once more after collecting a diving interception from Josh White and burying a powerful strike on running from the halfway line.

Man-of the match Joe Schubert, pictured above, missed a late penalty flick with the post denying him his hat-trick.

Worcester fifths finished their pre-season friendlies with a 3-2 win at their Lichfield counterparts.

The visitors started well but fell behind on 15 minutes.

Worcester hit the post in reply and then Jack Ferman's effort was deflected past the keeper.

They dominated the second half and forced numerous short corners before Ferman struck again.

Against the run of play, Lichfield levelled but Worcester spurned countless chances.

From a late short corner, Luke Pillinger finally forced the winner home. Youngsters Austin Shipley, Dan Rickman and Alistair Borwell-Fox impressed.
