WORCESTER’S Royal Grammar School The Grange won the Foremarke Cup for the first time.
Eight year five boys headed to Foremarke Hall, Derbyshire, for the annual under 10s football tournament.
The boys started slowly against Trent School and by the end of the group stage all four teams had the same record of won one, drawn one and lost one.
The Grange, who had the same goals scored and goal difference as Ratcliffe College, went through to the cup semis against familiar foes Fairfield Preparatory School.
After a quick opener from RGS, Fairfield equalised quickly to set up a tense finish.
But the Worcester boys continued to play good football and scored a winner to book a final with Solihull School.
In another tense affair with few chances, The Grange’s defence were well organised and Harvey Shaw struck a powerful right-footed shot to win the match 1-0.
The squad also consisted of Jimmy Barry, Oliver Shelton, Oliver Hutton, James Jenkins, George Hallam, Harry Edwards and Thomas Odell.
