QUEENS Park Rangers have arrived in Worcester and are keen to develop the city’s young footballers.

The Championship club will be holding coaching sessions every Monday and Thursday at King George V Playing Fields as part of their Midlands academy from this week.

Boys and girls between the ages of six and 10 are invited to take part in the sessions, which start tomorrow from 4.30pm until 6pm.

It has been set up after Worcester Community Trust contacted QPR's Midlands Training Centre about the possibility of using the 3G pitch at Brickfields.

Rich Widdowson, commercial manager at the trust, said: “I spoke to them and said would you be interested in providing after-school coaching? And they jumped at the chance.

“It might sound strange to some people that QPR are coming to the Midlands but a lot of the big clubs are going all over the place now and setting up academies to find players to take them through.”

Each class costs £3 per person but this week’s sessions are free.
